in memory of gymnights!

i got to play badminton last night! now that's really something for someone like me who can barely find the right mind-set to exercise regularly. it's been a heck of a long time since the last time i played badminton that my legs were already hurting after the first game. it was only one game for goodness sake! i still managed to force myself to play for a second game anyways. which only added more pain. haha. yeah, the last time i played and really played badminton, i believe, was at AIIAS which is probably 2 or 3 years ago. dang that's long! i couldn't even remember how to properly play. lol. all i had in my head was AIIAS. AIIAS. AIIAS. gymnights. gymnights. gymnights. i had pictures of the AIIAS gym-nights memories flashing in my mind all through the game. .

i could picture me, arne, melvin and ika playing doubles on the no-experts court, the middle court. (experts = the older indonesian dudes!) arne, getting ready to hit the shuttlecock ika's about to serve. ofcourse, with the ninja-like style me and my brother used to laugh at. haha, peace arn. but it was hilarious!

on the court to our left (left, if you're facing the pulpit), are the experts! yes those older indonesian dudes who play like BOOM! so gooddd. and along the court lines, their wives and kids are watching and cheering and gossiping too, their heads following the shuttlecock's direction. left-right-left-right-left-right (really fast) and more left-right-left-right-left-AWWW!!! ("AWWW" means OUT! no score. haha)

another picture was of us (me, ika, melvin, and arne) and more people (david reynolds, heindy!, krista and the others), walking to the library to get a cold drink from the water fountain there, since the water fountain at the gym is usually 'long-lined' and isn't cool enough to refresh my tired muscles. wow this is one of the 'earliest' memories of my AIIAS life.

i also clearly remembered this one night, me, Edmund, Aldz, Shin, Sham, Mike, and Amiel, we were sitting out side the gym, facing the library. shinrei was sitting on someone's bike, i believe it wasn't his. hhaha. we were talking about yoga or something and shin blurted out of nowhere, "why yoga? why not 'yogi?'" and we all laughed. that was funny back then. hahaha. how weird! i guess we did laugh at weird stuff alot! hhaha.. those guys are weird anyways. heee just kidding.

oh and i caught a glimpse of the basketball guys clearing the gym, stacking the creme-colored chairs and pushing them to the sides! hihi. i used to love sitting on the highest stack!... and wait! why is Lonny in the picture?! hahaha. another early memory.

not forgetting Cultural Nights that used to be and is still, i believe, held at the gym annually.

volleyball games with Mr. Vhymyster, the man of the court! gyahhaha. no comment. i can REMEMBER LIKE CRAZY this white shirt he wears almost all the time that says "NO COWS ALLOWED"! it had a sign with a cow's head inside a red circle and a red line crossing over. i wouldn't remember it if he had not always worn it. hahaha.

the rest of the volleyball peeps would be my dad, DR. Irrgang (with his own personal serving style! the throw, run and hit style! hehehe), Mr. Deepati, Mr & Mrs Brofas, Darrel Legoh, Alex Vhymyster, Kuya Paul Almocera, Ate..mm Ate something (shoot i'm forgetting names!). haayyy, basta! they're a few of the many people you would easily find around the volleyball court.

and what about the annoying lights-out moments, shoo-ing us home! it really worked though. everyone would go home at exactly 10 pm, when the gym lights gp off. it is a great annoyance though, to those who are still in the middle of a great game! haha. i could still remember the look on everyone's face. disappointed, exhausted, and yet content to feel so healthy! hahaa

yeah, all those pictures were enjoyably dancing around my head the whole game. i couldn't help but smile and laugh (please guess which picture made me laugh!? hahahaha see im laughing again!!). on my way home, recalled all those moments again, for the millionth time last night. and i realized that aside of the fact that AIIAS years are the greatest years of my life, those years are also the HEALTHIEST years! tsk tsk. i'm being such a lazy cow! so maybe i should go exercising now. haha. okay fine, i'll get this post over with and do some jumping jacks! hahahha! see now i'm picturing Mrs Webb and her PE class!! "Breanda, could you come infront and get us warmed up please?" Mrs Webb would say with this grin on her wrinkled face. A fakely excited Breanda would drag herself to stand infront of the whole class and lead the warm-up session. ofcourse, we'd do jumping jacks.
